Sliced Stripes Baby Quilt

I've long admired Meg Callahan's quilts, and this baby quilt is inspired by her aesthetic.

While I didn't hope to replicate the intricacy and scale of her designs, I stuck to just two fabrics (!) and focused on the overall texture of the sliced stripes in a field of white.

I used one of my favorite Anna Maria Horner prints from her Honor Roll collection, and some solid Kona White. They are SO bright despite the dreary lighting of a Maine November.

For the backing, I chose a navy star charts print from Hawthorne Threads, and kept the straight line quilting pretty minimal to match the sliced stripes.

Herringbone Baby Quilt

This snappy little baby quilt reminds me that sometimes simple designs and fabrics can have the greatest impact.

Sunny Patchwork Baby Quilt

While we're waiting for spring to start up *for real* (it's snowing right now...), this little aqua and yellow patchwork quilt is a spot of sunshine.

Citron and Aqua Sampler Quilt

How did I let this stack of blocks languish in my sewing cabinet for so long (years)? I'm not sure what I was waiting for, but earlier this winter I pulled out blocks accumulated from a few rounds of the 3x6 and 4x5 quilting bees.

Modern Linen Baby Quilt

Earlier this fall, I dove into my linen scraps that my friend Lynn at South Street Linen gave me to play around with.  I've used some of her fetching hand-printed linen before, but this time I decided to use exclusively linen for the quilt top instead of mixing it with quilting cotton.

Triangle Arrows Baby Quilt

This summer, I found myself with an interesting "problem": what to do with leftover half-square-triangle blocks from my Goose in the Corner Medallion quilt.

Teal and Tan "Into the Wild" Baby Quilt

This recent finish is a smaller, baby version of Craft South's free Into the Wild Quilt pattern, measuring up at about 37"x48".

I'm always on the lookout for fabrics that work for boys (without having cartoon trucks or ninjas on them).  This time, I put brown and tan tones into the mix, paired with blues and teals.

Cosmic Red and White Baby Quilt

As part of my recent dive back into doing more sewing, I decided to tackle some WIPs.  I found these three Sun, Please!  blocks (from two years ago!) and decided to feature them on a simple, gender-neutral red and white baby quilt.

This quilt measures about 42 inches square, and I love the contrast created by the simple layout and palette against the intricate paper-pieced block design of the suns.

Pretty Patchwork Baby Quilt

It's been a while since I finished a new quilt. Quite a while. It was hard to know where to start when I started to feel like sewing again and had some free time. Pinterest? WIPs? Flickr? My list of "make someday" quilts?

Sea Glass Goose in the Corner Medallion Quilt

Is summer on its way? Looking at this lap-size quilt, which I finished last summer, is infusing my day with thoughts of boat rides, beach walks, and cocktails on the deck.

Converging Corners Love Llamas Baby Quilt

Although this little quilt is from wayyy back in the summer, isn't its palette perfectly festive for the holidays?

For this baby quilt, measuring up at about 40x60 inches, I used Film in the Fridge's Converging Corners Block tutorial, one that has been LONG on my to-sew list. I love how the piecing method is improvisational, yet the results are all squared up!

Lotta Strips Baby Quilt

Making a strip quilt is one of my favorite ways to showcase fabrics in a baby quilt!  This one is made with mostly Lotta Jansodotter prints, with a few extras thrown in. I love these fabrics for a not-too-girly quilt for girls :)

Shockwave Squares Scrappy Baby Quilt

Gender-neutral, and "for boys" quilts as well, can really be a challenge for me. I have no problem using the whole gamut of colors for girls, so my stash is all over the place, but I tend to like floral prints too much for all of those same fabrics to also work for boys.

Baby Irish Chain Quilt

I love Irish Chain quilts, and I can't quite believe it took me this long to realize that they can be made simply from alternating nine-patch and background squares!

Boats! Baby Quilt

Boats, boats, boats!  That's pretty much what a coastal Maine summer becomes if you have anybody even slightly nautical in your life :)

This little quilt is a celebration of a new baby who will certainly (especially now) grow up to be a boat lover!

Improv Neutrals Baby Quilt

This quilt is one of my very favorites!  Inspired by a long-time flickr favorite of mine, I used a mix of neutrals with bright centers in improvised log cabin blocks.
